But true enough, there is talk of "rebooting" one of the best SF films ever made -a film that is only 18 years old and perfect!
I really don't understand the reasoning or logic behind this other than trying to revive a jaded franchise following the two lukewarm sequels to the original.
Moreover, I really can't believe Hollywood is so bereft of ideas it has to come to this!

Well, if they issue the first movie as is and call it a reboot...then issue much better sequels that don't turn the first movie on its head....
I could not possibly care less. I hated the first MATRIX so much that I never bothered with the sequels. If you're going to remake/reboot a science fiction movie, at least pick a good one.

Whatever happened to the LOGAN'S RUN remake?

I didn't think much of Logan's Run even when it was first run. I was far more impressed by the first Matrix movie.
LOGAN'S RUN is very, very dated. Half the fun was the '60s silliness. WESTWORLD has shown us that silly sci fi movies can be remade quite effectively.
But hey, I'd rather watch a sequel called PLAN 10 FROM OUTER SPACE starring Richard Simmons than have someone spend a dime on another MATRIX movie.
Westworld was a good movie when it was first run. The only thing that dates it today are the special effects and the fact that the "terminator" trope has been overdone.
However, I'd have never thought that Battlestar Galactica could have been entertainingly remade, either, and snorted derisively when I first heard of it, but boy was I surprised on that one.

Many fans of the original scoffed, but I wasn't one of them. I liked the show and I knew it would benefit hugely from an update of the concept. Only now with The Expanse does SyFy again have a great gritty SF drama on par with Ron Moore's BSG.
I've a friend who still hasn't watched Moore's version. Of course, he sees a Grace Park layout from Maxim and goes hmm, maybe I should watch it. I added sure, that's plenty of motivation right there. Grace, Katee, Luciana (who showed up in another very good Moore-produced show, Helix). Alas, he's never bothered. Some people are stuck in their Star Wars bubble.
Don't care but I want a reboot of Star Wars and make it more grown up. Also The Last Star Fighter.
