What a great movie. The Rambo series kind of went off the rails after this one. It is basically a genre unto itself.

No other movies like this even come close...want some fun watch it with no sound. It's basically a horror film.

Thoughts?

Not horror...it is basically a ....'Do Not Fk With Me' film....similar to 'Death Wish'.
I am surprised that someone has not seen it..only bec it is a classic...for
Stallone anyway. But, hey, I'm older....
And Brian Dennehy is at his best.

If you like power and revenge (pay back?) watch this.

I mean if you watch it with no sound, late at night, by yourself...it basically becomes a horror movie without the sound

It's based on a book from I think 1970.
Apparently throughout the 70's every major leading man almost took it but ultimately passed. Then Stallone went for it and it saved his career. He has stated that a movie like that simply would not be made today.

First Blood was a 1972 novel written by David Morrell, who also wrote horror, like The Totem, and many other novels and novellas.
