I appreciated many of the choices listed, but those above stand out for me.
You don't have to especially like the character, just appreciate the acting.
Some didn't care for Kilmer's performance, but I thought it was great.

My *Absolute Favorite* biographical performance:
Rutger Hauer as Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema in Soldier of Orange.
