Wow, many of my favorites have already been mentioned.
Always liked The French Connection, though some of the film feels dated now.
I am especially impressed with golfgod's mention of the chariot chase in A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum.
Another favorite of mine is the Jedi (bike) aerial chase scene in the forest.
Further: the Back to the Future II hoverboard chase scene, and the Back to the Future III train chase.
And I might get reamed out for this, but I kinda liked Angelina Jolie/James McAvoy in the Wanted (http://www.videograter.com/video/Wanted-Car-Chase-Scene - broken link) chase scene.
How about "COBRA" or the original chase movie in 1957 "Thunder Road" ? Just a side note, but, didn't Steve Mcqueen lose 5 hubcaps in "Bullet" ? Oh for the good ole days, huh??
Did you mean The French Connection? 'Cause The 7 Ups was Roy Scheider, not Gene Hackman. A good movie, to be sure, but I don't remember a car chase in it. But it has been years since I last saw it.
Others that haven't been mentioned yet:
Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Completely ridiculous and completely fun.
True Lies. A car chase involving limosines, helicopters, and Harriers. How cool is that?
Foul Play with Chevy Chase and Goldie Hawn. "Far out!"
The Blues Brothers. "We're on a mission from God."
Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Again with the helicopters --- oy! Still, a great chase scene.
But really, the all-time best car chase scene EVER goes to:
TOY STORY. A moving truck, remote control car, a fierce pooch, traffic accidents, a neurotic dinosaur, and a rocket. MAGIC!
But if you say "chase scene" and not "car chase," then it has to go to THE INCREDIBLES. The bad guys in their blade saucers chasing the two kids was absolutely thrilling. If you can sit through that scene without a big ol' grin on your face, your heart has gone cold.
Hey you got me! I did mean French Connection.
And I can't believe this, but there are some here I haven't seen or don't remember. I got to go to the video store and see if they got them. Thanks, all.

Bwah! How could anyone forget that one? Although the OP did mention "computer enhanced." (noticed I stopped the quote short of "junk" LOL)
