Don't forget Dirty Harry! How about Rocky Balboa? Schwartzie in The Terminator series...
Or Inspector Clouseau - too late, Steve Martin butchered this role anyways. I refuse to see his version.
Yeah, there was talk of a Dirty Harry remake and I thought, "why bother" it's just going to be some watered down PC crap.
Steve Martin needs to stop doing remakes. Not only would I not see his Pink Panther remakes I refused to watch "The Out-of-towners" remake he did several years back. The original with Jack Lemmon was so perfect, I knew Martin's version would be a disaster.
Humphrey Bogart is another whose movies should not be remade. I can't think of anyone who would pull it off anyway, too many metrosexuals in Hollywood today.
A few other movies that should never be remade:
Clint Eastwood's westerns
Patton
Jaws
Raging Bull
Easy Rider
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Midnight Cowboy
Bullitt
Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid
Last Man on Earth...well not a 6th remake at least. Haha I'm just kidding as I've only actually seen I Am Legend so far, but I'd like to see the others.
Howard the Duck
Cleopatra
Ishtar
Gigli
Glitter
Swept Away
Shanghai Surprise
Any other to add along this vein?
I believe the OP is asking about movies that should not be remade because they were perfect, not because they were bad. I do have to add though it was a box office bomb, ISHTAR is a GREAT movie, one of the best 80s comedies hands down! No need to remake it though, no point in it.
I don't mind remakes per say, some movies lend themselves to it, like many monster, western, crime and rom-com movies. It's just that remakes are seldom as good as the originals, and usually not good at all.
