What about "Telephone Man" by Meri Wilson?

How about Lobe By the Telephone by Foteigner? Was gonna mention Croce's Operator and Eliz NJ beat me to it. An oldie would be Memphis by Chuck Berry ( also covered by Johnny Rivers). Another one would be Wichita Lineman by Glenn Campbell.
