Within this LUSH Cosmetics video is a song called Down by the Sally Gardens.

Does anyone know who it is that is playing/singing this version of the song?

SOOOO many people have done this song. It's a traditional Irish song that's as old as dirt.

But I have spent too much time (I'm embarrassed to admit how much time) looking on Amazon and searching the internet for this specific version of the song which is used on this video. And, sadly, frustratingly, LUSH did not name the song they used. Ugh.

It's so beautiful.

You can hear it especially well later on in the video when they go to have tea, and when they are washing the henna out of their hair. At about 2:55 or so.

Also wanted to say that I used my song ID app from my smartphone to try to identify it as well and it couldn't ID the music.

I'm thinking "Down by the Salley Gardens" was a song W. B. Yeats adapted from an old rural song. And that seems to be the case.

I may have even linked to versions of it on "Anything Goes" or one of those. To be honest I only hear a little of the song on this video, which I'm not sure is enough for me to figure it out. I thought maybe the Rankin Family, just because it's a group sound and they're the group I find doing it (otherwise I mostly find single singers), but I believe I hear more masculine voices in the clip than in the Rankin version I found. Here's the Rankins though and some additional versions though for the fun of it.

You might just e-mail Lush Cosmetics as someone else e-mailed a company to figure out a singer/song.

I did this exact same thing with a song in a Revlon Commerical and got a response back from Revlon within 3 days. It was a song that had not been released yet so I couldn't find it.

The song was called Bellissimo by Ilya. At the time Ilya only had one CD out and this song was not on it. Email them - their marketing or ad department.

Thank you Thomas, I have emailed LUSH and hope that they someday get back to me. I don't really care for Loreena McKinnitt's rendition of the song, though I do love some of her other work; but love the first two videos you posted. Very beautiful, and even though I spent (blank - a lot of time ) on youtube and amazon.com listening to different versions of the song I hadn't seen those. Thank you!!

And thank you Thursday007 as well - your reply gives me hope that perhaps LUSH will respond to my inquery as the Revlon commercial people did with yours. And that is a good song!

After listening again I realized it was recorded with an acoustic guitar. Go to youtube and type in "Down by the Sally Gardens Acoustic" and there are a number of them that come pretty darn close.
