I am looking for electronic drum kits I could search for on Craigslist. I took drum lessons for a year and played in some pickup bands with friends, all of this about 15 years ago. I am looking for a simple kit to just play along to music from MP3s using headphones. Something I could rig up in the extra space in our master bedroom and play to relax after work and a little on weekends. Pretty much fun music I am familiar with Zeppelin, classic rock, Sabbath, grunge type stuff.

Budget is a few hundred dollars.

I don't know a thing about electronic drum kits. I played on regular drums. I don't know anything about the electronics or how I would mix the sound of the drums with the mp3s I would want to play to.

What are the essentials?
What are decent brands?
Any tips or recommendations?

Thanks.

I would get something that has a snare with a lip or rim on it for rim shots. Of course the best are the Roland Mesh heads but they cost a ton.

This one is lower price but looks good. http://www.costco.com/Roland-HD-3-V-Drums-Lite-Electronic-Drum-Set-Bundle.product.100003188.html

I saw one like this at costco today and it was under $300, didn't look half bad.

You might find some of this infor helpful reference electronic sets. About the middle of the page on that link, click on electronic drum kits to get some prices.

Electronic Drums: Buying Guide

This looks like their best deal. Alesis DM6 for $399 with free shipping, and 2 year warranty. Alesis is suppose to be a good brand from what I have read. Good Luck.
