SUPER old thread, but I'd go for late 1965 to 1969. Rubber Soul was the true start of The Beatles' album career. Along with Pet Sounds, it was really one of the first amazing albums all the way through, not an album with a couple of singles and filler in between. Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt. Peppers, Magical Mystery Tour, The White Album, and Abbey Road are all incredible masterpieces. Let It Be was average, and even though I prefer The Beatles post-Help!, I also enjoy listening to their earlier material. A Hard Day's Night is my favorite from the early period, and Help! isn't bad IMO either.
As a personal preference I like the earlier stuff when they were kind of described as 'performers' as opposed to later on
when they really kind of 'studio' musicians. I guess I like the Beatles more as simply a great rock'n'roll band. Listen to those early vocals..great raw energy in the playing and vocals. And we're still humming away!
Ya I would have to say I agree on that...... I just listenend to my beatles collection 1962-1966 and now im listening to the other one (1967-1970) and the songs dont seem quite as good as the earlier years...... GRANTED THE BEATLES WERE GOOD ALL THRU but the earlier years are the best.... (As it seems with most bands)

By far - no question about it.
Had the Beatles begun with the likes of Penny Lane, Hey Jude, Hello Goodbye, and Come Together, I doubt we would have ever heard of them.

I don't know that I'd agree with that. A lot of their earlier stuff was very teeny-bopper-ish, while their later work was more sophisticated compositionally and musically in general. I think they evolved in a good direction.
I have many of their LPs. I remember the first 45 I bought I Wanna Hold Your Hand with This Boy on the flip side. My stupid brother told me not to buy their "crap" as he called it. I bought more and more and more. Nobody tells Mars what to do.
When it comes to the Beatles, I love everything from the first to the last. Lennon and McCartney are/were, in my opinion, one of the best songwriter duos ever. Their influence shaped the music world. Out of all their albums, I tend to listen to Abby Road the most, though. Love these final songs on that album. Not only that, the video is pretty cool.
