The composer was only 19 years old! "Eve of Destruction" was the only record my father ever took from me and snapped in two. He was a dove, not a hawk, and a gentle man. Obviously, the song deeply disturbed him, which is what it was meant to do. Sadly, it's still far too relevant.
Is this the only song about cannibalism that climbed the charts? So, how DID Timothy die?
Gather round boys to this tale that I tell.
You wanna know how to take a short trip to hell?
It's guaranteed to get your own place in hell.
Just take your lovely daughter and push her in the well.
Yeah, I'm gonna corner you in an elevator
And then you won't be able to put me off till later.
I'll put on my charm and I'll tingle your spine.
I'll take off my charm and then you'll wanna die.
^Sally Sparrow! "Blink" is my absolute favorite "Doctor Who" episode, this coming from a dedicated Tom Baker fan of many decades! What a great Companion she might have been! (What a gorgeous guy she lost!)
But wait, there's more!
Listen to me baby.
Can you keep a secret for me?
Make sure no one finds out,
cause then the lights will go out,
and I will find you out,
and I will cut you up.
I didn't expect to find this rather bizarre folk song. There are several versions available though This one by a member of The Dubliners should do. It definitely is a strange choice for a kiddy singalong though many old children's songs are filled with violent images.

I can't imagine picking a favorite episode but it sure ranks up there in my top 10? 15?
Sally Sparrow: I love old things. They make me feel sad.
Kathy Nightingale: What's good about sad?
Sally Sparrow: It's happy for deep people.
Oh I could throw you in the lake
Or feed you poisoned birthday cake
I wont deny I'm gonna miss you when you're gone
Oh I could bury you alive
But you might crawl out with a knife
And kill me when I'm sleeping
That's why

The best!
Imagine my surprise! I have been a "Doctor Who" fan since the early Seventies, when our PBS station began airing it, starting with "Robot"/Tom Baker then dropping into the past for earlier Doctors. The furthest they went was first-season Peter Davison. I've attended conventions and met a number of the actors, especially Tom Baker. So, I end up with "Blink" as the standout episode with few glimpses of the Doctor! I was disappointed when they lessened the Angels' impact over time; they'll NEVER beat "Blink"! And, the lines ARE especially notable, from wibbly-wobbly to "I have that one on a T-shirt!" (or something along those lines). Sally should be revisited, only~uck!~I don't like the new Doctor! Ack! Blech! Blah!
Of course, I should mention other vehicular crash songs:
Last Kiss by J. Frank Wilson & The Cavaliers
Leader of the Pack by The Shangri-Las
Tell Laura I Love Her by Ray Peterson
Teen Angel by Mark Dinning
EDIT: Does that mean we had "emo" moments long before it existed? The first time I heard "emo", I thought of the comedian with the messy hair and weird voice: Emo Phillips. As an old lady, I guess I can be out of step. *snicker*
