I would substitute Spartacus for the Triumvirate album instead of Illusions on a Double Dimple.

Meshuggah shouldn't be on this list when Fates Warning is not.
Dark Side of the Moon is only #1 because it outsold the rest. There are many other albums, and BANDS, that are much more "progressive" than Pink Floyd.

I was actively buying prog by 1970 and I saw the Strawbs in the early 70's, was very lucky! Sandy Denny recorded with them early as did Rick Wakeman who joined Yes and made lots of solo lp's. By the time Grave New World was released in 1972 they really seemed to start hitting their stride, their next lp was Bursting At The Seams and it is my favorite of all their material. "The Winter and the Summer"-what a great song! Ditto "Lay Down."
I've been catching up on their back catalog lately, lots of live shows have been re-issued on cd (not sure on vinyl.) It's sad that so much of their catalog is import only. They've been in my personal top 10 of rock bands for years-decades!
Agreed! I do think it's kind of a gimme, but for personal reasons, that album holds a high rank in my heart.
Moving Pictures, is a great "transitional" album: a gradual move away from their 70s prog-rock era, and into the new-wave 80s genre starting with "Signals" and shorter, snappier, and commercial radio playlist-pleasing tracks.
