mikebnllnb, I like that Wolf Alice song (and this is the first time I've heard it, or them as far as I know). It's nothing too original (but how much is?) but it's a good mix of sounds. I like the unexpected transition to screams from the earlier vocals which sound kind of new wave derived (and a bit like the Go-Go's) to me.
And now for something completely different and rather niche-interest:
I don't want to be a broken record (what's a record?) but "Giant Peach" is really, really, really good. There is an awful lot packed into that song. I like the blend of guitar feedback/dissonance with good hooks. I hear some Sonic Youth in the last third of the song, minus the unconventional tuning. But the important thing is how well it all works together.
I like a bunch of the other Wolf Alice songs I've checked out, as well, though not quite as much as this one so far.
I did check out some of the other things (some by bands I already know I'm not interested in at this point), but Wolf Alice is the one thing (on this young thread) that's made a big positive impression.
The video for "Giant Peach" is unfortunate. (I hate videos where there is talking over the music that isn't even part of the song.)

I'm glad you like them. They're the band I'm really into at the moment. Unfortunately, only Giant Peach is available in the States at this point.
Funny that you mentioned Sonic Youth. I hear a great deal of their influence in this song:
Bros and Moaning Lisa Smile are also great songs by them.
Those three songs you just mentioned (including Fluffy) by them are probably my other favorites, though I'm still sorting through their songs. I suppose Blush would be in there as well. I need to take a break from them actually, I've overloaded on various live performances of their songs.
Now that I've heard a lot of their other songs, including live performances, I don't really love what they've done to her voice on the album version. I'm not against studio modification of vocals (or anything else), but I'd rather hear her voice as is, since it's pretty good, certainly suitable to the material they play.
Edit: the Blush EP was just added to Spotify (in the U.S.) literally while I was listening to Giant Peach, just now. I was disoriented for a moment there, because I "knew" Giant Peach was the only song there. Well, it was. Maybe you should start a thread about the band, mikebnllnb, since I don't want to clog this thread up any more with obsessive ramblings about them.
