Good songs, but it's the arrangements that really make them. Circle of Life especially - the version with just Elton at the piano proves that at the core it's an average song, but man, those African musicians just give it the performance of a lifetime.

From a songwriting standpoint I prefer the Ashman/Menken songs of the 3 preceding Disney movies. Still, I can't say any animated soundtrack since has been as good.
