I am probably being too tied to conventional song structures and patterns. Maybe I might get freer. I thought I was pretty free but... others are freer.

A lot of it is the time signatures. See the Tigran post I made. The drummer Nate Wood is known for those.

I can handle different meters if it has melody and song level structure (goes somewhere). I liked the Dave Brubeck record I bought long ago (maybe when I was around 18).
