Those bands to the '00s are what Green Day, Ace of Base, Coolio, Puff Daddy, and Alanis Morissette were to the '90s and Whitney Houston, Micheal Jackson, Starship, and Journey were to the '80s.

I'm pretty sure Muse and Coldplay came out in like '99...I could be wrong about that, though...I'm not a big Muse fan, Coldplay's OK.

I'd go with the Arcade Fire. After that, a big drop....maybe Dresden Dolls? I like them. Kanye's decent. Interpol had that one absolutely great album, but now they suck. Spoon could work, but their first album might've been late 90s.

Hmm...this decade has been pretty weak...

Those who say good music still isnt being made have simply given up on music. The underground is FILLED with amazing music, most people just don't take the time or effort to seek it out. Its the same with each generation.."things were better back when I was growing up". Its the nostalgia talking, the rose colored glasses. The fear of experimenting with something new and different.

In any case, if I had to wager I would say some of the acts which have emerged this decade which will be remember 20 years from now will include:

-The National
-The Avalanches
-The Black Angels
-TV On The Radio
-Boris
-Mastodon
-M83
-Girl Talk
-LCD Soundsystem
-The Strokes
-Gnarls Barkley
-Lupe Fiasco
-The Black Keys
-Sufjan Stevens
-Arcade Fire
-Iron & Wine
-Battles
-Panda Bear
-The Hold Steady
-My Morning Jacket
-Lyrics Born
-Interpol
-Grinderman
-M. Ward
-Kanye West
-Broken Social Scene

I could go on. Not necessarily all my favorites, but all very relevant artists.

The Roots (see Wilco)
The Roots have been around since at least the mid-80s. Wilco has been around since around '94.
