What are some of your favorite openers?
I'm talking about lyrics, the first line or so.
Note: Do not post the entire set of lyrics!
That's against TOS/copyright regulations.
And besides, I'm just talking about the very first line of a song.
Some of mine:

From Neutral Milk Hotel, 1945 Holland:
"The only girl I've ever loved, was born with roses in her eyes"

Led Zeppelin, Black Dog:
"Hey, hey, mama, said the way you move, gonna make you sweat, gonna make you groove. "

The Pogues, Fairytale of New York
"It was ChristmaEve babe
In the drunk tank."

From Bob Dylan (with a salute to Jimi Hendrix) All Along the Watchtower
"There must be some kind of way out of here
Said the joker to the thief..."

Yours?

Hey Blue, great thread!!

"You fill up my senses"
"Just to look in your eyes again"
"Lost and alone on some forgotten highway"
"Where's is love?"
"My love, there's only you in my life..."
"Love hurts, love scars, love wounds in heart..."
"Hello Darkness my old friend, I've come to talk with you again."
"Home is where the heart is."
"Love me tender, love me true, never let me go"
"Desperado, why don't you come to your senses. You've been out riding fences for so long now."

More to come...

My first thought:

"Really don't mind if you sit this one out.
My words but a whisper - your deafness a SHOUT."

I'm not much of a Tull fan, but that's awesome!

My favourite is the opening few lines of 'Hoppípolla' by Sigur Rós:

Brosandi
Hendumst í hringi
Höldumst í hendur
Allur heimurinn óskýr
Nema þú stendur

Rennblautur

It's Icelandic but it translates into:

Smiling
Spinning 'round and 'round
Holding hands
The whole world a blur
But you are standing

Soaked

It wouldn't work anything like as well with a different singer but Jónsi puts so much feeling and emotion into it. It is possibly the most beautiful, sublime song I have ever heard.
