So many, too many, right? But which ones have been right on point for you?
Whether in appreciation of a current love, in justification of an unattainable "torch", or for no other reason than to celebrate the glory or the pain of love.
woot! Wonderful thread :-) let's see... I literally breathe love songs... sometimes the inner focus is to God ... to a hope for darling... to the past... to a pretty flower in the field... or even about work .. (those tend to be hateful songs of love etc)
Favorites are hard because it depends on my state of mind and heart... do I feel full of tenderness... lust... aggression... gentleness... rage... painful ache etc... so a favorite is almost impossible... maybe this way... what songs for the moment...
Well.. the 1st love song that ever got my attention was Danny's Song by Loggins & Messina.. not sure if I could put into words exactly what it was about it that resonated with me but it's always been special.
U2's "One" -- Quibble if you will the notion of this being a song about a one-on-one relationship, romantic or otherwise, but when it was released I was dealing with the end of a romance where just about every word described that relationship. Fifteen years later the hair on the back of my neck goes up when I hear that song.
"When Will I Be Loved," Linda Ronstadt -- Quite popular with us unattached college girls!
"The Things We Do For Love," 10CC -- For those days when you just can't win.
"Lover," The Michael Stanley Band -- Song's about a guy racing to get home so he can fight for his girl. But the rhythm and instrumentation are mournful and slow and loping, and you're thinking "He's never gonna get there in time!"
In the spirit of love for mankind ... Put a little love in your heart... John Denver, Donna Summer, Barry and Andy Gibb, Olivia Newton John, Rod Stewart at the Unicef Concert
I think Mary J Blige sings about love like no other modern R&B singer.. she is a great talent!
She's the kind of artist that sounds better live than on a recording.
Here is a recorded/processed version of one of her songs about love: Real Love.
Love Mary J. Blige, Flagrrrl, and that song was when I first got hip to her.
In case I haven't linked this Smokey classic, I'm gonna do it. Sugary, corny, sappy? Maybe but I love, "Baby, baby, don't cry". .... "Too bad it was him that you trusted, it's time that you got readjusted..."
