This band seems to elicit a range of reactions from people, from those who dedicated (deadicated) most or all of their lives to this band to those who loathe and detest the band and the unique subculture of the "deadheads". Where do you weigh in? If none of the choices is exactly right for you, please post an explanation.

I can appreciate their music and body of work, but it bored me too much to be a real 'listening' fan.

Their scene was before my time, but I have heard some of their music (a couple greatest hits things), and I liked some of their stuff quite a bit.

I have read some stories about the life and times of Jerry Garcia.... he had an interesting journey to say the least.

Stuff like Truckin', Casey Jones, Touch of Grey (the songs that come to mind) I really like.

I guess I fit in none of the categories, because I do kinda like them, and some of their music is great, other parts I find a little too dull.

I prefer the more folk-country-americana style of the Grateful Dead. The jam band stuff bores me.

I always liked the Dead, I saw them 3 times (84,85 and 88) and they are a fantastic live band. I think I fall in the 2nd catagory though, some of my friends were in the 1st, and I can tell the difference. this one guy I used to know owned 500 bootlegs.

The only song I will listen to is Touch of Gray. I'm sure most Dead Heads will call that their favorite too.

I've always been a fan, though I wouldn't call myself a deadhead. I prefer their slightly later stuff, generally, but I can also appreciate the jam band stuff they did. As I write this I have "Box of Rain" stuck in my head.

Anyone know if their very early stuff, as "The Warlocks" is available? Would be interesting to hear them during the era when they were hanging around with Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters.

I like Scarlet Begonias... I have a couple of different live versions I like.

I also like what I'm hearing of this Dark Star that was posted here.

*edit*
this is my favorite version.... I have it on my Ipod.
