I am conflicted about this song. She has such a great and expressive voice. The song has a wonderful arrangement that draws me in...I love the "you hoo hoo" and the subtle piano. This song has restored my faith for the future of R&B..wow is it good!
What I don't like are the lyrics, It seems to promote the idea of women staying with their cheating man. The lyric where she ponders having the cheating man's baby is horrifying to me...one of the most disturbing lyrics I have ever heard in my life. It seems our culture has shifted from monogamy to defacto polygamy where women share dominant males...this as much as anything explains why the "baby daddy" has replaced the family man as the norm. I don't like this trend or anything in popular culture that encourages it.
To be fair the song doesn't celebrate cheating. After all her man's behavior is "killing her". She sounds like she's in emotional termoil over the whole thing. All of those power emotions are part of what makes this song such a gem.
