My daughter has an interest in playing the violin. What qualities should I be looking for in a violin? What is the optimal construction (type of wood, etc)? Are there recommended brands ? Any online e-tailers that you recommend?
I was told that online supplied violins are frequently hard to tune, have a near impossible task of replacing parts/strings/etc.
Do all brick and mortar stores allow for trade in?
I was considering a violin in the $200 to $400 range, for a beginner. If she is serious about playing, I can then take the dive and get a higher quality violin.
