I'm planning a late october myrtle beach vacation with my wife and 1yr old.
I believe we've narrowed down our stay to Compass Cove or the Caribbean (dominican tower).
Have any of you stayed at the Caribbean and if so what are your thoughts?
Thanks
Although I have never stayed at either as I live here, I know many folks who have. Both places are owned by the same family and each has their own differences. The Carribean is the last high rise heading north into a residential area, so it is not as crowed as being further south, not that it matters in Oct., Compass Cove is further south on the Blvd so also away from the summer congestion, yet still crowded as amongst other high rises, it does have the most pools of any resort, yet for a 1 year old that is not going to be a biggie.
A couple of years ago there was a conference for hotel/resort owners and GM's, one of the speakers told how he had all these posters waiting to post good reviews and would reply to other peoples posts for a fee, this was even a news story on if I remember correctly, CNBC, I made a post about it on Trip Advisor and it was deleted, my question is why would they delete it unless they did not want you to know about this practice.
As a side note, Compass Cove and Carribean are highly rated by posters on TA
We just returned this week from MB and stayed at the Caribbean in the Dominican Tower. It was SO clean and the housekeeping crew was great. We even left our maid, Celia, a little card and tip just because she was wonderful. Try to get a room ending in 33 (733, 633, etc...) this will place you at the very end of the building and away from the noise of folks returning to their rooms with an ocean view from both balcony and bedroom. Double check me on that but that was our situation in 733. It's also 10-15 rooms down from the elevator but VERY much worth it. The building is also almost at the end of the hotel row so there is very little traffic.
Speaking of tips, recently I posted my thoughts on the "new" Medieval Times Dinner show you can read it here Blog the Beach | Myrtle Beach Promotions and I did make note that the servers work very hard
and deserve a tip like any restaurant, I noticed one family of 5 left $5, that is just so wrong.
