I know waterparks are geared towards families but which of these, if either, would be a better atmosphere for college aged young adults?

While I have never been to any of these, my first guess would be Nashville Shores.
I would like to think that Nashville Shores would be more upscale too, since it's a business and not a public pool.

I think you'd probably prefer Nashville Shores. You might also want to consider a weekend trip to Whitewater outside of Atlanta. Nashville Shores is rapidly improving but Whitewater has much more to do. Holiday World is also very close and they have a great waterpark.

Yep. A few years ago, I was living in a rural part of Arkansas (the entire state is rural for the most part), and wife and I were planning to move back home to Tennessee. One of my wife's work friends asked my wife--in all seriousness--"how are you going to handle all those rednecks in Tennessee?"
We still laugh about that even all these years later. You would just have to see the town we were living in to fully appreciate the irony.

To spend a day, Nashville shores, but it's usually been quite crowded when I go there, the wait for a waterslide is rather long...go on a sunday morning. I take my kids to wave country 2-3 times a year. It's not an investment. If you go later afternoon, the daycamps start to clear out and it's much less crowded.
Holiday World was pretty crowded when I went there last summer but was a blast. And you can't beat the free soda and sunscreen. It was a nice little park (it's also an amusement park with rides).
