I was happy round Christmas time cooking for my family and having fun. That was with my family.
I was talking about finding a friend. Everyone needs friends and just becaue I said that I need a friend doesnt mean I need to see a doctor. Some times people need to talk to a friend and just hang out with a friend and there is not any thing wrong with that.
I dont understand why some one would say that anyway. I dont have any friends here , Im just like everyone else I would like to have a friend to talk to and hang out with, that doesnt mean Im depressed just because I want a friend to talk to. You should not say things like that about some one cause you are not a doctor and you dont know me.
I shall not be posting on here much at all from now on. I thought I could find a friend on here but someone thinks I might need to see a doctor cause I said I wanted to find a friend. So I well let that person play doctor to some one else and not me.

There were many posts in response to yours. I thought they were all kind, helpful and sincere. It was so nice to see such an outpouring of compassion, suggestions, and camaraderie.

That's what I saw. You, it seems, saw one sentence and chose to take issue with that rather than reach for one of the many outreached hands.

What a shame.

I hope 2008 brings you more happiness than it started with. I really mean that.

Brezzy, I'm sorry but I think you completely misread my post. I did not say you needed a doctor. I just said that you sounded very lonely and suggested things you could do to meet people and make friends. Your post came across to me as being sad and depressed. I only said that if you have been feeling that way for a while you might want to see a professional, and didn't say anything about a doctor. I do think that it is unusual that if you have been here a while that you don't have any friends, unless their is something else going on. I was truly concerned with how you were feeling based on your post. If I upset you I apologize.

Brezzy, everyone get down at times, particularly around the winter holidays and when there's a change in the family. People were just trying to offer you some suggestions and encouragement . . . which we all need from time to time. Your original post came across a bit like that. But, sure, if all you're looking for is a friend to talk to and share with, then you can find people here that would be happy to be a friend.

I don't mean to offend you, or anyone else, but looking for friends on an internet message board such as this might not be the answer to what you are seeking. To have friends you must first be a friend. You seem to enjoy having had people around you at Christmas. Go out in your community and immerse yourself in activities and surround yourself with people. I thought that you received nice, thoughtful responses. I really don't think that anyone said you need to see a doctor, I think you read that wrong. However, seeking professional help is usually not a bad thing. Professional opinions are preferable to me rather than armchair internet message board advice. Bottom line: People are not going to see this message, show up at your door and become fast friends. Be realistic. Good Luck to you.
