Well, I'm a lifelong Tennessean, soooooo....

It's a state that has 6.5 million very different people across 42,000 square miles. Each part of this state is different and cannot be generally categorized.

I think the people are generally very friendly. I happen to believe that you get what you give, so if you're open and friendly, people will reciprocate.

Murfreesboro would be fine, too, although it is a VERY rapidly growing area.

I built a home and live in the north part of Murfreesboro. People here are very friendly. I have been all over the world and lived in various states. Found none as friendly as Murfreesboro. If you have any specific Murfreesboro questions, feel free to Direct Message me.
Jeff

The only thing I'd be wary about regarding Murfreesboro would be if you end up having to commute to and from Nashville on I-24, that's really bad during peak hours.

I moved here from Delaware to Murfreesboro about 6 years ago and I love it. I just miss the beach. And better food up North. But Murfreesboro is nice and so is Lenox village area in Antioch. Both not far from Nashville. Perfect for you I think. People here are so nice and for the most part genuine. You can meet alot of friends at a church small grouo or if yph like to atatt as a sercer somewhere. Both of these areas are close to Nashville. You will love the city. Change is hard but always good. Good luck to you both

Thank you very much!! your right change is very hard but if you really want something to happen the you and you alone have the power to do it. So thank you very much for the advice. I am just tired of the fast pace society I live in here in PA. plus the people here so closed off that its hard to make friends. I have a select few, but looking to venture on to the next adventure. this summer my mom and I are going to plan a trip to see if we both like it. I'm sure we will because everyone we have talked to says that TN is just fabulous. So any advice on which places to visit?

Unfortunately, the higher populated parts of TN are getting expensive, fast paced, and crowded. Nashville is a fast growing major metropolitan area. It isn't small town USA nor is it Mayberry. It's a big city with the perks and problems you'd expect.

I would recommend checking out the touristy Broadway, Cool Springs Galleria, downtown Franklin, and any individual communities you may be interested in.
