We arrived here April 20th and love it. However I have a few questions to ask. One is about storing clothes in the attic. The house we bought has a huge attic and not much closet space so we are thinking about storing our winter/summer clothes up there in one of those temporary closets that you can buy at Wal-Mart and assemble that is made out of cloth and plastic tubing. If it is OK I may next year (when I have more time) build something more like a regular closet. Is there anything we should be aware of? (like bugs or moths)

My second question is maintaining the culvert in the front of my house. Is it ok to use Roundup on it. It is almost impossible to mow do to the slope of the sides?

I am sure I will have many questions as the days go by....

Thanks Lee

Well, you can spray Roundup on it, but are you sure you want a barren, weedy slope?

You might be able to use a "weed eater" to "mow" the slope. It does a fairly neat job if you're careful. Could you plant a ground cover on the slope?

If you store clothes in the attic - watch for mice!

Welcome to TN! I also must add that I met Lee & his family his first day at his new home and what a wonderful family they are!

For the grass, I bought a weed wacker from Lowe's to trim the grass. I would think by having grass in the sloping area, the ground will absorb the rain better so it won't stay stagnant.

I'm wondering if you could use old-fashioned trunks to store the clothes in the attic. Also, be sure you have good ventilation in the attic since it will definitely get hot up there.

Thanks It was GREAT meeting you also Barb ... You have a good point about having grass in the ditch I guess I will just bite the bullet and weed wack it...

As far as storing clothes in the attic I am leaning towards using plastic boxes with lids... I think I will take the Wardrobe closet back...
