I am relocating for my job and my new restaurant will be opening at Green Hills Mall, but I do not necessarily want to live right near mall if it is a congested area. I am used to traveling 12 miles or less from my home to work. My salary is $50000+/year. And I live in the Raleigh, NC area so am looking for something similar or nicer.

1. Is my salary lower than the local average income? If I can't afford it, I might not accept relocation.

2. What neighborhoods should I be looking to live in that are safe, clean, and affordable for a couple with no children. We would like to be able to safely walk outside with our small dog in the evenings, in a relatively quite neighborhood.

3. Any recommendations on apartment or condo/townhouse for rent communities?

Any help appreciated. I haven't had much luck researching on the internet, and thought some local opinions would be far better. Thanks!

What's your rental budget? Green Hills is a great area, but can be pricey. Hillsboro Village might be an option closeby...what can you spend and are you going to rent forever or purchase down the road?

I currently pay $885/month for a 900 sq foot one bedroom apt and a garage in a brand new complex with nice amenities. I would like to stay in the same range, if possible....And as I said, I am okay looking about 12 miles out or so.... especially if traffic isn't horrendous there.

The Bellvue area would also be a possibility. Its zip code is 37221 and has a lot of apartment complexes. Its also about five miles from Green Hills Mall. Check Craigslist as well as Google apartments in 37221. Good luck.
