Mink had been in love a couple of months ago and now mom is raising the litter. So lot of mink activity.
Mink have a wide home range and it would not be unusual to see a mink during daylight. Seems more dependant on conditions when you see them. high water, mowed fields, other prey critter babies roaming around.
I see mink in the daytime often. Last bow season a large black male came running along the tree roots on the vertical bank of the river. Got a nice female mink photo May 6th mid day.
The nonsense about seeing an animal in the daytime is as valid as saying you have a brain tumor if you have a headache. Lot of other things to consider so to be on the safe side, health officials warn that any animal seen during daytime is to be considered rabid. A zero tolerance attitude that carries over to all the 'isms' by socio-political government fed PhDs.
If you get rabies you die! Only one, perhaps two documented cases of someone surviving rabies. Rabies may be dormant for about up to a year so rabies shots are critical whenever you come in contact with any wild animal such as a gray squirrel you may be feeding peanuts. A women just died in northern NJ this year. All warm blooded animals can carry rabies.
Mink are so secretive and solitary doubt you'd have to worry unless you ran a trapline.
