Speculation says that it is the eye of a really big female swordfish. I did not know they got that big.

My first thought was squid then looked at the link and seems the scientists are thinking the same.
That sure is a BIG eye. That could really freak out the kids at Halloween!

I saw this story. A large squid perhaps? Godzilla?

My bigger question? What animal if so took the eye out in the first place?

Pretty creepy thing to fin washed up on shore. It almost doesn't look real, but must have come from something pretty big.

The mystery is solved, it was cut out of a swordfish head.

They still have not done genetic testing but hope to do this next week.

When I first saw this story on the web, I immediately thought of the sons of katie elder, the john wayne flick, where dean martin is trying to raffle off a glass eyeball. I know, I'm a sick puppy.

What if they have no dna on record to match it with? would or could it be an alien species?
