Just thinking of this today. The water in caves can be the purest. It has the ultimate filter, the earth. Ironic dontcha think, that dirt cleans water.
I've never visited any large caves. I have, however, been in a couple of caves in southern Indiana in Spring Mill State Park. One of them has a river running through it, and visitors go through it in a rowboat. The guide moves the boat along by walking his hands along the ceiling of the cave. Pretty cool! If you shine a flashlight into the water, you can see white, eyeless fish. Way cool!
I'd like to see some of the big, famous caves sometime. However, I've heard that some are filled with bright, colored floodlights. I'd rather see a cave in its natural state, without all the fanfare and without huge crowds of people disturbing the tranquil silence.
Just thought of something from my childhood. When was very young, I couldn't remember whether stalagmites were from the ground up or from the ceiling down; same for stalactites. Then it occurred to me that C is for ceiling (stalactites) and G is for ground (stalagmites). Now I never get the two mixed up.

Maybe one or two more but my family and I have been to:
1. Carlsbad Caverns, NM (5 or 6 times)
2. Ice Caves near Bandera Volcano in NM
3. Mammoth Cave in KY
4. Luray Caverns in VA
And.when I was young and foolish into:
5. An unnamed sinkhole and cavern in SE of Carlsbad, NM hanging from a hemp rope tied to a mesquite tree.
Yikes! I've never been that adventurous!

This huge cave in Vietnam was an article in the National Georgraphic print magazine a couple of years ago. It looks like something out of a Tolkien novel.
