I've read stories about apes and elephants which have the same reaction after witnessing mother's murder. Very sad story.

Stories like this are very difficult to watch. The mother was butchered for her horn. The time is now
to educate and put pressure on the countries who think that having a rhino horn is a status symbol
or a medicinal cure!

What a cutie. She wanted so badly to crawl up in her keeper's lap and snuggle. A bit big for that.

Poachers need to be stopped. They are the worse kind of scum. But to stop this scum you have to stop the demand for ivory. Asian nations, especially, China, is what is driving demand. For all the talk of how smart the Chinese are they need to realize Rhino or Elephant tusks do not enhance their sexual prowess. This slaughter of these magnificent creatures is a reflection on us as a species and not a very good one at that.

Poaching is bad but that baby is not traumatized. Bad things happen to animals in the wild all the time. The baby will be okay.

It's hard if impossible to change centuries of myth and superstition.
