to cover profit there would be a bar that sold drinks (non alcoholic of corse) and a resturaunt could be made. its not hard to come up with ideas to make money. i think its not that people want to waste money gambling, but want to be apart of it. when i was younger and thought of gambling i thought of how it felt to be in a casino with all these other people taking and making bets. playing these interesting games. you cant do that at home because who are you going to bring over? people you know already? casinos, and in this case my completely made up idea that is doubtful to become anything more than a forums discussion, is that you can meet new people from all over.

This actually is a great idea. However, the only way to make this work would be to lower the drinking age to 18 too. The reason being, by law, no one would be able to drink at the tables, like it is currently in New Mexico who has a legal gambling age of 18. People in Vegas would not stand for that for one minute. I know I wouldn't.

the place wouldnt be for adults because they already have casinos in which they can gamble at. but think when the adults are away gambling, what fun would kids have? now-adays most people go to vegas as a family but leave their children in a hotel room all night

Why is it dumb? There are a lot of kids 18-20 who would love to drink and gamble. Do you realize how much tourism would increase if Las Vegas allowed 18-20 year old's to drink and gamble? Underage adults do this constantly already by going to Mexico. Instead, they would come to Vegas.

I haven't read this entire thread...but 18-21 year olds...where are they going to get the income to blow in Vegas...they seem to either be working at college, or working at very low page wages without college.

What they'd really want to do is drink in Vegas...

Plus, imagine the implications if they were allowed to gamble...then the servers would have check ID's all night long over and over...as they certainly won't be wearing some bright green neon headband to distinguish them from getting alcohol.

There is no Sin in Vegas that doesnt exist anywhere else in the country anymore.
Actually a really good point. Not sure I'm in favor of it, but you're probably right about increasing tourism with pot. I'm sure I could find pot pretty easily if I looked for it, but the prostitutes are already pretty blatantly in your face.

What Vegas really needs is to attract more businesses. I realize Silicon Valley had a huge boom and bust, but you need to find the next growth sector because I think it's very, very difficult to get existing businesses to pick-up and relocate their company and employees (especially the employees, most of whom would revolt because of widespread perception Vegas is not a place to raise a family). Alt. Energy, maybe?

I totally agree. Back home in Australia all that stuff was legal at 18. I'd have been pissed if I'd moved here as a 20 year old or something and not been allowed to gamble!
