Folks - I’m based in Portsmouth and this may be a stupid question to some , but I am new to this area and having trouble finding slim fit pants in the regular stores like Macys. My size is pretty odd at 28 waist and 32 length.

Any other stores you’d recommend that have a big collection of men’s dress pants including sizes out of the most common ones

Thanks

I can empathize with you on sizing. I take a 36 waist and 34 inseam with a flat belly. Can't find much in stores as everything seems to be for short and fat people. Can't find anything at the big & tall places either. The salesman stopped me at the door of the local Big & Tall shop saying "Everything we have is for Big (holding his arms wide apart) and tall. You're too skinny." It's like "the land of the giants" in there. I mean 60-inch waist pants??? Really? How many folks buy something that big?

You might try asking around at a dry cleaner. They might have a tailor/seamstress who could help.

A couple months ago my son got married and I wanted a new suit so I wouldn't look like a bum. I looked high and low without success for months. Finally resorted to a custom-made suit from a specialty shop in Nashua. Glad I did. They made me a chalk pinstripe suit (Think:1930's gangster.) and I wished I had known about the place when I was in sales. Yes, it was expensive, but considering the quality and fit of the suit it was worth every penny.

LOL I did enter a big & tall store once a few years ago thinking it would be just the thing for me and walked out in 5 mins!
Do you mind sharing the place in Nashua and approximate price you paid for the suit?

I'll post the name of the shop as a public service, "Regan Clothiers", in Nashua. Google it. It's a bit of a drive for you but 100% worth it. Hours by appointment.
My suit was $975 and its the most amazing suit I ever bought in my life. Well worth the cost. You can shoot billiards and enjoy a cocktail while being measured if you choose. You'll feel (and look) like a million bucks.

I believe there is also a men's store in Newburyport that custom makes suits. My son needed one for an interview and my cousin took him there. Sorry I don't know the name of the store but shouldn't be too hard to find. He's built like you - tall and thin.

I don't think that the Regan store actually fabricates the clothing. They probably take the measurements and then a Chinese tailoring firm actually makes the suits and shirts. Tailoring is a lost art today.

The one in Kittery? I think I met the same salesman. lol I told him the XLT size tends to fit me pretty well though and then he backed off.

You may have to resort to shopping in stores that cater to a younger demographic such as Aeropostale, Abercrombie, GAP, Banana Republic. They offer smaller sizes and slimmer cuts.

Then I look like I'm waiting on a flood. I've been hard to fit since I was in the 5th grade at 6 foot 2. I finally topped out at 6 foot 7 inches tall with 38-inch arms & 36-inch inseam in high school.

No, I didn't play basketball.

I was in boot camp for the Navy and when the drill Chief Petty Officer thought I needed a good yelling at, he'd call me over telling me to "Bring a chair you big galoot!" Then he'd stand on it so he could look me in the eyes while yelling at me. I learned pretty quick one does not laugh in the presence of your drill chief.
