Why isn't Atlantic County included in this forum?? (Camden, Atlantic City: fit in, college)

Just curious why Atlantic County (and Ocean and Cape May counties) are not included in this forum? They are part of South Jersey, so why no love?

Atlantic, Ocean, and Cape May counties are part of South Jersey, but just not part of the "Suburbs of Philadelphia." I'm not sure if their are a lot of NJ CD members that are from the South Jersey shore counties. I believe a majority of the NJ posters are from Northern and Central Jersey.

I agree with you though OP, they should show the SJ shore counties some love!

It depends on where you are in Ocean County. I say it's more on the borderline b/w Southern NJ and Central NJ.

We asked for all of South Jersey, & this is what they gave us.

As to Ocean County. . . not so much. . .

The modern definition of South Jersey is all of the counties who had the secession question on the ballot, in the '80s, which the state removed.

I'm thinking since the title of this sub-forum IS "NJ Suburbs of Philadelphia," that is why they werent included. They really arent suburbs of Philly.

What about Hammonton, that is probably a suburb and is in Atlantic county?

Cumberland County is also not included.

I think the counties weren't included because of MSA differences. Atlantic County is in its own (Atlantic City-Hammonton) MSA. Cape May County is also in its own (Ocean City, NJ) MSA, and Ocean County is within NY's MSA.

Cumberland County is within Philadelphia's CSA (but not MSA) but wasn't included for some reason.

Nonetheless, I think Atlantic, Cumberland, Cape May, and Ocean (optional) fit in with Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Salem and should be relevant for a South Jersey Forum, more concise and representative than "New Jersey Suburbs of Philadelphia". Areas in eastern Burlington County (away from 295 or 130) are a lot defined by Philadelphia to be suburbs of it.

That because this isn't the South Jersey forum, but the NJ Suburbs of Philadelphia Forum. I kvetched a lot about that when they first made this forum, although personally I don't really think that Ocean County is South Jersey.
