My experience with Bank of America mortgage lending has been subpar as of late. Due to backward underwriting and slow responses, my closing has been pushed back for a second time. Very frustrated right now. Has anyone else dealt with Bank of America and what was your experience? Good or bad.

I don't like them but I'm too lazy to re-fi with plans to move soon.

I can't even do automatic payments from their website.

Are you kidding me? You can't even do automatic payments from their website? Why not? I can't remember what led me to Bank of America when I applied for a mortgage but I'm really regretting that decision now.

That's correct if you don't have a BofA account. Their web payment does not allow recurring automatic payment if you don't have a checking or saving account with them. If you are paying your mortgage with fund from another institution, you can set up a BofA online account, do a recurring auto transfer from an external account to BofA account and then have another recurring payment from BofA to mortgage.

It's a crazy round about way of doing it but it can be done.

For OP's original question. I refinance into BofA from Chase and the whole process was pretty straight forward.

BofA is a horror show in every other way. Why should mortgage dept be any different? I am sure every customer they have was inherited from some other bank they swallowed up but some people don't want to stand in line and jump through all the hoops in order to close their account and switch to another bank.
