We lived in NJ from 2001-2004 and did very well as a nurse and electrician. We then moved back to FL (where we grew up), but we miss the heck out of jersey. work here in FL is terrible for alot of industries, including construction (my hubby's line of work). He is a Union Electrician, which doesn't mean much down here, but he was treated wonderfully when we were up there. I know I could find a good job as a nurse, but I am wondering how it is up there for electricians in general? Thank you for your time!
The unions are still very slow. I've got a relative who is a union electrician (foreman) in NJ, and he's worked about 4 months out of the past year. Coming back in from out of state would likely put him on the bottom of the list, so unless he has some unique skill set, he's going to have a tough time, IMO.
Hahah. I cringe everytime I have to call the plumber/electrician/hvac guy. Most dont call back and when they do they charge near $100/hr. Ridiculous. Thats why I now do my best to fix things myself or I get home depot to fix it..hahah
They must be doing well, ever get a call back from an electrician?
LOL! that's how my husband's biz has done so well here down here, just answering the phone and arriving when he says he will. our local economy has been very slow over the past yr and a half, plus NASA is set to layoff thousands soon...just looking at our options. we really did love our time in jersey.
i do appreciate your input, Bob. you used to be able to access how book 1 and 2 were doing via the internet. not any more. i wonder how nonunion pay is around there, anyone know?
My son just turned Journeyman this year- so he too is at the bottom of the list- I don't think he has worked since last fall.
