We are spending billions to overcome the fact that NYC is on an island. On things like this, the Gov't should just open a new can of green paint and print whatever money we need, and they should also do the same for utilities such as electricity that everyone uses,

In light of all the other things our government chooses to **** away money on, these are the things I can actually get behind. We should have taken the trillions in bailout dollars spent on banks, insurers and investment firms that made bad choices and put it into infrastructure projects that make sense and provide tangible benefits. The roads, rails, electric and water/sewer systems in most areas of the country are in dire need of major overhaul, this is where the money should be going. I personally have no objection to borrowing money to invest in infrastucture, in fact it's one of the only things we should borrow money for.

the money should go back to the taxpayer that worked for it. the government shouldnt be allowed to borrow anymore, they are clearly not responsible enough with our money to do so.

I agree with this, yet there's less than a .01% chance that it will ever happen...they'll just keep stealing our money and dispersing it where some senator thinks it should be allocated

Why borrow any money? If it is for the common good of humanity, seriously why not just print the money and be done with it?

Infrastructure is the only the GOVT should be investing in. There finally pumping billions into Amtrak after decades of neglect. Are you opposed to the Road extensions or widenings?

I generally agree with you. We need to stop spending and cut, cut, cut until we are out of debt and back on a solid platform financially. The problem is that while that is being done we can't cut off our nose to spite our face. Infrastructure projects are things we need to invest in to bring the country into the 21st century. We've spent way too much money on social engineering projects, wars and bailouts and not nearly enough on investments into ourselves.

So while I generally agree with you, we do need to be investing into our infrastructure and I would even go so far as saying that if we need to borrow, this is what we should be borrowing to do. It's an investment, just like a homeowner taking out a loan to fix-up their house.

amtrak and road extensions should be financed by tolls/fares. one of the problems is that since the government is responsible for these projects, they can only done by stealing taxpayer money and costing us much more than it should cost us to do the job. we dont have much choice, they have us by the balls.

Tolls are paying for this project. Are you oppose to spending billions in this state on road widenings and extensions? Beach restorations and Bridge upgrades?
