I have a $1900.00 credit, and would like to get a check for half now.
Is this possible?

I dunno, why not just call their customer service line and ask? If yes you'll get the process rolling immediately and if no you'll know.

How did you wind up with the Credit?

If its your money, and you no longer have service they will issue a check.

If its money from some sort of Grant / Aid Program it get refunded back to the Granter.

How does one get a PSE&G credit like that? Did you pay your PSE&G bills a year in advance?

I was wondering, too. I felt maybe the OP has a ton of appliances or something. For example, in our home we only have one tv and a desktop. Everything else is charged (vs plugged in all day).

Or a lot of grow lights in the basement. <g>

No grow lights. But I was thinking of getting some if I can't get this refund. ;-)

Seriously, thanks for the feedback everyone. Now that I have the time to explain matters in more detail I will try.

Account is my mother's name. She was diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimer's disease nine years ago. She died earlier this year.

I became her caregiver and co-owner of her house with full rights of survivorship. Her will has been probated. I have the "short certificate".

The PSEG account was left in her name and still is in her name. I am continuing to live here, but the house is for sale through a realtor.

I appreciate the person who mentioned a grant. I think she was receiving a grant through the county (Camden), and I say I think because after I applied for her ( and I included myself and my income on the application) I never got a response from the county saying "Yes. You are eligible for a subsidy of X$s"
The next year I got the application again, which I assumed to be an implicit acceptance. Calling the county on this was a nightmare. I ignored the last application.

So yes, there was probably a grant for an unknown amount.

As to why it was so high, that's a mystery. There would usually be an adjustment in the fall,
but only for one or two hundred. Now a $2300 reversal, and a $1900 credit after subtracting a $400 outstanding bill. The reversals go back through December 2013, so the above mentioned grant may not
apply that much.

I reread my meter reading scheduling and the last actual reading before 9/16/2014 was 11/2013.
I would swear that the meter reader was there a few times between those dates. I always thought I somehow missed him.
