According to their web site "New Jersey will trigger off of the Extended Benefits (EB) program as of January 1, 2012. Individuals will be able to file a new EB claim through January 22, 2012. EB benefits are payable to eligible individuals through week ending January 28, 2012. No EB benefits are payable after this date."

I don't understand how this can be. The 3 mo avg is 9.1%, Well above the 6.0% and 8.0% requirement for EB and high EB respectively.

What I am mostly concerned/confused about, does this mean that EB claims filed prior to 1/22/12 will be paid through to completion of 13 weeks eb and 7 weeks high eb? or does this mean that if you will just be cut off.

Thanks for any insight into this.

I think that was put in there before this last fight in congress over a 2 month extension. I think New Jersey has an extended benefit regardless what is being on the federal level. If i read it correctly 26 weeks ue, than a 20 week extended benefit if the unemployment rate stays above 8% for 3 months.

I called today, and found out that after Jan 1, NJ goes back to the 2 year lookback instead of the temporary 3 year lookback which was passed into law in the spring. 2 years puts it below 110%.I think that they should not abruptly end it for people that are currently on EB,and also when the UE rate is 9.1% they should revisit the metric all together.

How long should the government pay people to stay home?
