Hello,

My family (husband and 2 year old son) and I are relocating to New Jersey within the next 30 days. I've lived in the Orlando area almost all of my life and have NO clue about NJ.

My husband has family that lives in Bridgewater, but that area is a out of our price range. Could you give us any suggestions for housing?

We would like: 3 Bedrooms (for when my mother visits)
We can do: 2 Bedrooms

Price Range: no more than $1400 (my husband said it'd be great if heat is also included...?)

Please let me know where to look for agents, etc. I've been looking online but have found very little rental areas. I've also responded to a couple of adds but have not had any communication back.

THANK YOU!

It would help if we had some more information....see this post for more of what we are needing in order to assist. http://www.city-data.com/forum/new-j...residents.html

I would have to say first of all, where will you and/or hubby be working? that plays a huge factor in where to look for housing. Though I must say it will be very hard to find any decent housing anywhere in NJ within your budget. (forget about a three bedroom for <$1400 a month inc. heat. Not going to happen with the possible exception of Newark or Camden - trust me you do not want to live there.)

Default Thanks for directing me to the questionaire!

Where are you coming from? Orlando
Why are you moving? Family
Where will you be working ? If NYC, what part of NYC? Parsippany or West Paterson, still in determination

Will you buy or rent? rent
What is your budget ? 1400-1600
What kind of place are you looking for ? preferably a 3 bedroom house

Will anyone (spouse, children, pets) be moving with you ? the whole family, husband and 2 year old
Do you need/want good public schools? YES!

Parsippany, Denville and Rockaway come to mind - possibly Lake Hiawatha, Lake Parsippany and White Meadow Lake which may have rentals in that price range, I think the schools are pretty good there too but not too familiar w/ the schools anymore so hopefully you'll get other opinions.

Lake Parsippany, Lake Hiawatha, and White Meadow Lake are all part of Parsippany, and I'd stay away from Parsippany all together, the schools is not good by NJ standards, and they are at risk of losing their state funding for schools. (huge battle going on between the Bd of Ed and the State.
I'd also be careful as much of the towns you suggest are prone to flooding. (Parsippany, Denville, Rockaway....)

I'd put Boonton Twp, East Hanover, Whippany, and Florham Park on the list to look at though, better schools, manageable commute and you should be able to find housing in your price range.

Parsippany is a great town. You should be able to find a 2BR rental within your budget.
