Think of the reasons the colonists fought against the British Govt for independence. When I do, I start to compare how things were then to how they are now. While it is not as bad, its getting closer and closer. If the colonists were denied access to all forms of weaponry, there is no way they would have been able to even start a fight, let alone win one. Where would we be now if that were the case??

Will a few semi auto firearms deter our current military, no. Then why is there such an uproar about banning them? It is NOT the legal gun owners that are committing so many murders. Does it happen, yes. Will it happen even if we ban guns 100%, yes. There are wackos in the world hell bent on hurting people that will ALWAYS find a way to do so. There are tons of disgruntled people angry enough at someone else that whether its a gun or knife or bat or car, they WILL find a way to hurt or kill the person they are angry at. The tool they choose to use should not matter.

Background checks, mandatory training, mandatory bi-annual proficiency tests, as much as I hate it, Ill even go so far as saying ALL guns should be registered to make the whiners happy.

It is the SECOND amendment because it was deemed extremely important to make sure the citizens would always have a chance to defend themselves against an oppressive governing body. It wasn't the 11th, or the 20th or the 27th. It was the second, directly behind freedom of speech/religion/press/complaining about government. ALL TEN of the amendments in the Bill of Rights were specifically designed to LIMIT the amount of government intrusion into our lives and PROTECT what it means to be a free American. These 10 amendments were proposed only 2 years after the original Constitution was signed. So while they may have been an after thought, it was a pretty dam quick one to ensure we ARE protected.

This needs to be reposted and really implemented in peoples heads. While you anti gun bums complain, you guys dont even look at the real problem or cause of murders. Also if it wasnt for our constitution , NOBODY here would even have a say or thought, let alone probably typing right now behind a keyboard so RESPECT it or move to a different country to see what life is like without our freedom of rights that are being trampled on.

Independent, pretty much the same as Canada and more than 50 other countries, who were part of the British Empire. Commonwealth of Nations - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
There may well not have been a Civil War, as Britain banned slavery 30 years before we did, and without killing each other over it. Slavery Abolition Act 1833 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

No one is denying people access to weaponry! There are hundreds of millions of firearms in this country. All most people want, is that you keep them at home, until the revolution.
The Second Amendment also speaks about the militia. Every able bodied man was expected to own a musket, and to be part of the militia. There was no army. There were no police. Now, there are both.
Also, there were no revolvers, multi-shot weapons, or AFAIK, even bored rifles. You fired one round, then spent the next couple of minutes reloading.
People speak about the Founding Fathers as if they were appointed by God. They were businessmen. many owned slaves. They did not include women. They did not provide for the direct election of the President, or even of senators. Not everything they did or said was perfect.

I think what some of you people fail to realize is that if you place blame of people's will to do harm on someone simply on the object in which they use, there will be no objects in this world that would be legal. Now as for the "well regulated militia." A well regulated militia is not defined as a "government" regulated militia. What most people don't like to acknowledge is that the only reason during WWII Japan refuse to invade by land is because of the people of the United states being armed. Our right to have firearms in which is a down scaled "military" rifle does not just protect our home but our personal freedom. If only less than 1% of our country puts their life on the line, me being one of them (11B), what deters other countries from invading? It is certainly not our amazing politics. Before claiming that "gun toting rednecks" don't need to have access to these firearms because they can kill. I want to remind everyone 9-11 never had AR15's involved. Does this mean only military should have planes? Or maybe we just need to re-enforce buildings to withstand planes? This would sound ridiculous right? But when you try to take away firearms from typically those who would give their life for yours it's almost seems like a slap in the face. You would like to put restrictions on liberty because you want liberty. I would also like to point out the first thing Hitler did when he took over a country was to disarm them. Why? Because with a weak population there was no chance for a rebellion of a tyrantical government. Most would say that would never happen to the US because we are one of the strongest countries in the world. So was England when the US signed the Declaration of Independence and we fought for our freedom. Just because something is deemed unlikely doesn't mean we shouldn't be prepared.

That statement is absolutely not accurate, and it ignores many other realities.

The Japanese were working with the Germans to isolate the US so they can concentrate on taking over strategic points.

You can't invade any country with a 3000mi ocean distance by ship. You need to have resources, supply lines, and troop staging areas.

Doing an invasion of the US similar to storming the Beach of Normandy will be suicide and ineffective on US soil.

How about the giant ocean that lies between us and Japan? They're lucky their planes made it to Hawaii and back to bomb Pearl Harbor. Their ships wouldn't have made it, they would have been spotted considering the U.S. was preparing for possible attack and knew the West Coast was a prime location. Good luck making it here and just walking onto the beach. Our isolation is the reason any country has really yet to invade us by land.

Japan's master plan was to create The Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere, which essentially meant that they wanted to expand their empire so that it included Korea, Mongolia, China, Indochina (now Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia), The Philippines, and Indonesia.

Their not-so-large army was extended to its maximum by occupying those lands, and could hardly have managed a cross-Pacific invasion and conquest of a nation that is absolutely huge in comparison to their own country. Once you have conquered a region or a nation, you also need to occupy it, and the Japanese were smart enough to know that their army was nowhere near large enough to occupy The US, in addition to the aforementioned Asian nations.
