I have already gathered a lot of useful information on these forums, but I am hoping to get a last piece.
What bills are typically associated with home ownership that I would have to take into account. I am looking at the Old Bridge area right now, are there any sites out there which list things like property tax change % in recent years, average prices for utilities, etc?
So far I have this list:
Mortgage
Property Tax
Water
Recycling/Trash
Heating/Electric
Home Insurance
Don't forget to put some money aside for maintainance. All homes require maintainance. If this is your first home and it has a nice backyard, you may wind up buying a mower, and yard tools, unless you plan on hiring a landscaper. Also annual gutter cleaning, and leaf raking always make home ownership fun. There will be some expense when you first move in...the little things that make it a home.

I second the maintenance fund, I have been a home owner for over 40 years and no matter how new or old the house is something always needs to be fixed.
Don't forget window treatments, blinds, shades etc., if you have Vinyl siding, yearly power washing, the same things goes for wood decks, and then sealing the deck. When we lived in NJ, my h had a snow blower. I know if Jersey they have to leave a working stove, but what about fridge, washer, dryer. It's the little things that you don't think of until you need them and add up. Good luck on your new purchase.
Cable, internet, and quarterly sewer bill. Home phone, if you're using a land line.

I pay sewer separate from water - that was a surprise. $120 quarterly.
