In order to be licensed as a taxi driver in London, prospective drivers have to demonstrate mastery of, "The Knowledge". This means that they have to show that they can drive, via the most direct route, to even the most obscure alleyways in the UK's capital city.
By contrast, apparently NJ Transit hires bus drivers who have no understanding of how to reach The Lincoln Tunnel, or even how to find the Port Authority Bus Terminal once they have arrived in NYC. Just imagine being one of the commuters who was subjected to this ridiculous situation by an ignorant NJ Transit bus driver:

I loved the text message the person on the bus sent to her boss "I don’t know where I am and I don’t know when I’ll be in."
I wonder why someone did not call a cop during the ride, or to NJ transits HQ. I do not think there was simply a failure of the driver. Aren't the busses radio equipped? Didn't dispatch call when the bus never showed at the bus terminal in NYC anywhere near the time expected?
NJ transit is a disgrace. I take a bus everyday and over the last 8 years the bus driver has gotten lost 3 times that I can remember.
It is ridiculous that nothing is done to make it better. Don't even get me started on the waste of space workers that stand and take count of how many passengers are on the bus and off course we need 1 for each lane at port authority. Must be a union job. It is 2013, computers, hello. Ok maybe I did get started.

i was on the bus one morning and traffic was horrendous. the bus driver got off a different way, went through all these local roads, and got us back in the bus lane. I was trying to pay attention, and have since tried to duplicate what he did and i can never figure it out. People on the bus applauded after they figured out what was going on. What could have been a 2+ hr delay in traffic ended up only adding about 35 minutes to our normal commute.

50 work weeks * 5 days, 250 days * 8 years = 2,000 days you have taken the bus, and 3 times got lost? yeah....that's horrible. how do we deal. those 1997 times you got to work problem free are unaccetable.
