and would appreciate any ideas on the best places to start looking for an apartment.

Price (under 1800 a month) and commute are my primary concerns. My wife and kids won't be coming as this is only a one or two year assignment at most and we can't afford to sell our house. So schools aren't a concern.

Thanks!

Will they be visiting? or Is it just for you? Do you need 'home' office? or Will a 1 bedroom work?

They won't be visiting. I'll need to go home every other weekend.

A one bedroom would work, although I do need a little office space.

Basking Ridge has a couple of condo developments that should work for you. Spring Ridge and Society Hill both have one and two bedroom condos for rent for between 1600-1900 a month.
Really nice areas, each condo has a balcony or patio for some outdoor space. You can use the 'dining area' space for your office? Or, go for a two bedroom incase your family do want to vist??
Not sure where you're coming from, but we have a lot of great amenities around here that you might enjoy.
I am a realtor here so feel free to pm me if you need more info.
Good Luck!
