Yeah, John McCain apparently never met a war that he didn't like, or--at least--that he didn't want the US to become involved in.
At this point, I think that he has taken on the role w/in the GOP of the cranky old guy who screams at the kids to get off of his lawn, but--unfortunately--his agenda is bigger than just keeping kids off of his lawn.
mccain is just one of many republicans (and democrats) that are completely dependent on a political system of being paid for their political support. so they sell their influence to various special interests. that is what politics is for the most part. I wonder if there is fear of backlash against his interests if he speaks up.

Exactly
The same folks who seem to want The US to go to war over the issue of Crimea, conveniently overlook the following:
When Russia invaded Georgia, G.W. Bush did nothing.
When martial law was declared in Poland (at the instigation of The Soviet Union), thus removing essentially all rights from Polish citizens, Ronnie Reagan did nothing.
When Soviet tanks invaded Hungary, Dwight Eisenhower did nothing other than pay lip service to the idea of Hungarian independence.
If The GOP wants to have people take them seriously, they should realize that most Americans do not want The US to play policeman for the world. And, they should also realize that some of us actually do have memories of past events and how Republican presidents dealt with those events.

The other massive security "hole" that was revealed in one of the recent news stories is that only four nations check every passport against the international database of stolen passports! The norm with most countries is to do only spot-checks.
The only countries that fully scrutinize EVERY passport are:
The US
The UK
Israel
The UAE
I would probably add China to this...in China they even have metal detectors in train stations.
And now that this happened I'm sure all the airlines are going to start being more careful.
