hello everyone. My wife, 2 kids and I are looking to move to Orange, NJ from Passaic, NJ. We looked at an apartment complex over on North Center ave at the intersection of Washington and Center. Although we are having a hard time finding a decent apartment, we really plan on staying for about a year, 2 at most, as we don't want our children going to schools in bad neighborhoods. We both drive and commute to work. She works in Montclair and I teach in Passaic. I just want some input on the neighborhood, crime rate, theft, if there are gangs or drug dealers in that area. thanks.

What is your budget? Depending on where you are coming from in Passaic, this neighborhood could be on par or worse than where you currently live. $1200-$1400 a month might get you a small 2 bedroom apartment in a complex or multi-family house along the Orange-West Orange border which would be better than the neighborhood where you are looking.
