Hi .

I have two kids and my husband are planning to move to bloomflied NJ ...particularly on fulton street.
Is this a good area? I know the schools aren't considered good in this area but my kids are young so not planning to put them in for two years. Is it a safe area? Especially for kids? My husband would be taking the train from the bloom flied station as well to go to newark penn station would that be safe as well?

thanks

I would say Bloomfield is "fine" in every aspect. It's not terrible, it's not amazing, it's nice. Safe, respectable, especially a few blocks from Glen Ridge like that. It's a step down from, say, Montclair, but a step up from Belleville.

it seems you are in the same distance from Bloomfield and Watsesing stations.

I see allot of children play in those parks, never seen any crime.

Bloomfield is average at best. Just take a ride through downtown along Bloomfield Ave. It's very gritty. The schools are generally ranked in the bottom 1/3 in the state. I wouldn't say it's a step down from Montclair - more like 2 or 3 steps down

Downtown Bloomfield will be decent in 5 years and more than decent in 10 years. Right now it is as someone said gritty. They put up or are putting up around 400 luxury apartments so that will bring in a different class of citizen. Once that ball starts rolling it will breed more investment and so on. Or that is how it works in theory.

Can you tell us who those children are allotted among the various parks in the mythical town of Bloomfiled (or...Bloom Flied)?
Is it some type of quota system?

The Brookdale area is probably the best section.
