I'm a little confused about the Middlesex County Jury Duty reporting message and I'm hoping someone could help me out! The message says:
Jurors from Group # 12 with a juror number of 0087 and higher are excused from jury service. All other jurors, including those postponed into this date, must report as scheduled.
I am from Group #12 with a juror number higher than 0087. However, I was postponed into this date because I was out of state in March for a business trip. So does the second part of the message mean I should report even though my group and juror number are excused?
Yeah, you have to show up. The second part of the message doesn't apply to you anyway, since you met the criteria set forth in the first part.
Get some sleep, you gotta be there! What time does Middlesex County start proceedings? I got called in Ocean County two years ago and I don't think we had to be there 'til 11 a.m. I ended up only going one day because all of the cases for the week were settled out of court. Mostly it's just sitting around. I know at least in Toms River, they had a free WiFi connection in the jury waiting room, so bring a laptop to keep yourself entertained! I wish I had known that before I went.
If you really want to get out, ask the judge or lawyers about jury nullification. They hate informed jurors and will take that as a sign that you'll be difficult. They'll excuse you faster than you can think!

Ah yes, that's a great line. For those who don't know about this, here is an interesting article on the topic.
Turns out I didn't have to be there after all. The woman at the desk looked at my notice and said my group was excused even though I was postponed into this date. I'm glad I went for peace of mind though. Better safe than sorry!
I wasn't trying to get out of it (although being 8+ months pregnant, I don't think they would have wanted me anyway! ) - I was just confused by the message!
Thanks everyone! At least my confusion led me to this forum. Lots of great info here!
