our inspection when we were selling had a list a mile long! We told them take it or leave it. They took it and we did nothing!!! It was a wreck, old federal electral box, cracked foundation, eating crunching termite sill, shows what people will take to live in bergen county!!!!
Thanks! The realtor has suggested two inspectors. Is there a way of checking out their reputations long distance?
cheers

ASHI.org - if you don't find them on the list, don't use them.
I also would say find one yourself, don't use the realtor's. It could be because I'm paranoid, but I don't trust realtors. They are great for finding places, and getting that first bit of negotiating out of the way, but from there on out I preferred running my own show.
Thanks everyone who replied. I forgot how to navigate the forum! Anyway the inspection was done, no major problems, but the sellers have made the changes. The pool inspection was a misery as we would need to change the liner etc. So they have given us a credit based on the inspector's report. We get to the US on the 14th and sign on the 15th. All we have to survive are the movers on Monday-Tuesday, 10 days with the inlaws who are upset at our departure, and finally 2 weeks in a hotel. I think the last will be the hardest. But the end is in sight!
Any idea if shipping wine is a definite no-no?
Thanks everyone for answering my questions, I really appreciate it!
Warm regards

$ wise you would be much better off finding a collector where you are currently to buy up your collection and use the money to start a new one when you move. If there is a certain bottle or two that has special meaning then that would be ok. If you have nothing special selling it and starting over makes sense IMO. Find a local club or go online and advertise. This situation happens more than you would think.
