Hello, so I found pretty good apartments near Newark Airport. I have been reading about Elizabeth, Newark areas as dangerous. The apartments are located in Sheridan Ave, has anybody heard anything about the area? I am a single white female in my young 20s and I am a little bit concerned about my safety in the neighborhood.

Elizabeth itself is a very historic place, origin of much of the USA with GW and pals riding horses through,,,,, but that part I would hate to say might be iffy, like you could be there decades and nothing bad happens, it's just more urban and the border of Elizabeth Newark and Hillside.

Yeah I kind of saw it on google street view, although it's more about my safety rather than beauty of it. It just happens that I will be working in Newark airport and my shifts may vary, I am just a little concerned about safety at night in particular.

I live in the Ironbound section of Newark. Stay away from that area. Very unsafe and I love Newark.

Look for some room shares in the Ironbound. A lot of flight attendants share 2-3 bedroom apartments.

I rent out a 3 bedroom 2 bath to three flight attendants for $1975/m.

There are actually quite many more "regular" areas around and EWR is quite accessible to other towns.

I'm in Cranford, which is about 15-20 minutes from EWR, there's no need to stay in even partially sketchy areas to be close to the airport.

+1
Even a bit closer to EWR is Roselle Park, which is a decent town with lower rental costs than Cranford.
Just be sure to avoid the town of Roselle, which has a much higher crime rate than Roselle Park.

Don't move there!!! Try Springfield, NJ, it's decent and 15 minutes away. Cranford is nice also.
