Everybody always says this. But I don't see how dealing with the blizzards and 20-below wind chills in a NJ winter are the better alternative. Even in the summer it was 90's and humid much of this summer in NJ. It's not any worse in FL. I will take the heat over the cold any day.

That's just your perception. If the heat index is 105 in NJ and the heat index is 105 in FL it's the exact same thing.

I think of it this way:
When it is very cold, you can add more clothing in order to stay warm.
During very hot weather, there is a limit on how much clothing you can remove before putting yourself in danger of arrest.
